The Power of Authority

Being called by the Lord Jesus Christ to a position of Authority is not easy. Even after many years of study, experiences, revelation, impartation, and witnessing the wonders of God one must still ask, "am I ruling wisely?"

Walking in authority is not just a position, but it is a demonstration of the mind, heart, will and nature of  Jesus Christ.

In His letter to Corinth Paul many times had to defend His right and authority to preach the Gospel.Yet He understood why He was in position. Do we understand why Christ has put us in our position? Many leaders do not. Look at what Paul says
2Co 10:8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

He says that our ( meaning the Apostles ) authority was FOR EDIFICATION, and not FOR DESTRUCTION. If we do not understand what the word edify means we will miss the context of this passage. Edification here means literally building.

oikodome architecture, (concretely) a structure; figuratively, confirmation:--building, edify

Literally He is saying' " all we want to do is to build you up in the things of the Lord!"
What Christ has given us is not to destroy you, but to build you up.

Our responsibility is to BE BUILDERS! So many want to be rulers, but in order to rule well, we must know how to build.  Where do the saints need to be built?
  • Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
  • 1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ
  • Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
  •  Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
As leaders we are to be the sweet savour of Christ in the Earth. A sweet savour means a good scent, fragrance or aroma.  Death stinks, yet many speak words that kill and destroy. We are to Speak Life.

2Co 2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

For those who want life, when we produce life, it will bring them life. For those who want death, when we produce life, it will produce death in them. We must allow God to do what He will do and we must be producers of Life.
We must shake off the negative, angry, and backbiting spirits that come. They want us to kill our own. PRODUCE LIFE! Let the Word of the Lord be activated. For those who want what is right, it will produce a Harvest in them.

If we do not properly convey the mind of Christ and His will through His nature, we will begin to lose the credibility of our authority. This can only be done by the enabling Power of the Holy Spirit and a willingness to agree with the Lord.
When the Lord calls us into a position it is not to destroy, but to preserve. Many times when individuals enter into a position the first thing that happens is a critical and or judgmental spirit will try to get on a person. We must allow the Grace of the Holy Spirit to help us begin to mold and shape those who the Lord calls us to impart to.
We must work to not let impatience and or frustration to set in. Because if we do,  rather than build people , we will destroy them with our words.

1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

We must take heed how we are building up the people of God.

In His Service,
Apostle Jesse
